- What are his roles?
Bobby Schuller is lead pastor for Hour of Power, Shepherd’s Grove, and Tree of Life Community (which he founded in 2008), and CEO of Hour of Power with Bobby Schuller.
- What is Shepherd’s Grove church?
Shepherd’s Grove is a place of healing, learning, and belonging. It’s a local church with a global mission, which is Hour of Power with Bobby Schuller. The church was recently renamed “Shepherd’s Grove” after the church and congregation moved to the new location from the former Crystal Cathedral campus. Shepherd’s Grove is a Reformed Church in America congregation utilizing a Presbyterian style of governance, which was put in place to maintain transparency and public trust.
- What is the St. Patrick Project?
St. Patrick Project is a social services outreach founded by Bobby in Orange, CA, where he serves as president.
- What is the history of your ministry?
The ministry, founded by Bobby’s grandfather, Robert H. Schuller, began as the Garden Grove Community Church at the Orange Drive-in Theatre in 1955, soon adding a 300-seat chapel four miles away. It later expanded to the larger campus. As the ministry grew, in 1970 the Hour of Power television program launched and aired in all 50 states by 1975. The program eventually became the most-watched religious program in the world, reaching 17 million viewers. The Crystal Cathedral was completed in 1980. The ministry, which grew and thrived for many decades, was affected in time by an aging viewership and competing Christian programming. Carrying a $60-million debt, the organization filed for bankruptcy in 2010. Except for one pending case, all parties were paid in full, and the ministry is now debt free. Under the leadership of Bobby Schuller, the newly named Shepherd’s Grove congregation meets in Garden Grove, CA, where the newly designed Hour of Power with Bobby Schuller is, for the most part, filmed.
- What are the ministry’s beliefs?
Jesus Christ ushered in the Kingdom of God into our world through his death and resurrection. He invites everyone to be a part of this amazing movement by trusting and following him. There is no fuller, richer life than the one that is lived in Christ.
- How may I have a relationship with God?
Believe in Jesus and be baptized. All of us have been separated from God and only Jesus is able to redeem us to our Father. Receive the Holy Spirit, pray daily, study the teachings of Jesus and his apostles, love God and your neighbor unconditionally, and enter into a community of Christian believers by joining a church body or ministry in Kingdom work.
- What resources are available to me?
Our largest resource is the program, Hour of Power with Bobby Schuller. This may be viewed throughout the world as a traditional broadcast or online 24/7. We also offer a free subscription to our “Positive Minute” daily devotion, which is delivered directly to your inbox. In addition, starting the first week of October 2014, new curriculum based on each of Bobby’s sermon series, will be available, free by request. Books written by Bobby are also available by request online, through mail or phone.
- Do you take prayer requests?
Yes. Every day the ministry receives prayer requests through letters, emails, and phone calls. We pray over the requests every Thursday morning with our team. Others are prayed over by a team of elders or through a prayer chain. We also have an active prayer community on Facebook called “Hour of Power Prayer” where followers pray for each other by posting prayer requests. A follower may also message a private prayer request, to which a Shepherd’s Grove pastor will respond.
- How may I support your ministry?
First and foremost, you may support this ministry through your prayers. We believe prayer is reciprocal and benefits both viewer and ministry. We also have many volunteer opportunities in our church and at our corporate office in Huntington Beach, CA. Financial support, which makes our outreach possible, may be made through the mail, online, or over the phone. We have various partnerships, tithing opportunities, sustaining automatic monthly giving, and estate and endowment funding. Each gift is important because it is given from the heart of our donor who believes in our mission and trusts we will be good stewards of their monies.
