Voices of Hope Children’s Choir to Share their Christmas Spirit

On December 18, 2016, the Voices of Hope Children’s Choir will be “taking over” the sanctuary for an evening of music, Christmas spirit, and fun… All led by the kids themselves!

The children, rehearsing choreography

Starting at 6 pm, our wonderful young ones will be leading all those attending in a time of high holiday spirits as they share their musical gifts, led by director Sarah Grandpre. Hear the Christmas story as told by the children, sharing the story of our Savior’s birth. Expect a few fun musical surprises as well!

Following the service, sweet refreshments will be served. Come and support the hard work our children have put in to performing, and experience the holiday spirit as only they can share.

Do you have a child in 1st-10th grade looking to gain valuable vocal experience singing with our choir? Information, and an opportunity to sign up will be made available following the event. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 4-7, and our director requests unchanged voices only.

Shepherd's Grove Christmas Village during Season of Rejoice

Nearly 1,000 Kids and Families Celebrate the Season at Shepherd’s Grove Christmas Village

Shepherd's Grove Christmas Village during Season of RejoiceThe smell of a crackling fire and sounds of beloved Christmas carols wafted through the air as Santa Claus — with the help of several volunteers — welcomed nearly 1,000 people from the Shepherd’s Grove congregation and community to the inaugural Shepherd’s Grove Christmas Village.

Held December 11 and 12, the Christmas Village offered a bevy of activities for little ones and their family and friends. One of the nights’ biggest hits, aside from the massive bounce house and inflatable slide, was the opportunity to throw snowballs and play in the snow. Also among the fun were a “reindeer” race, cookie decorating, nativity craft, screening of “A Shepherd’s Story” and the opportunity to meet Santa Claus!

The two-night event, hosted by Pastor Geoff Madison and the Shepherd’s Grove Family Ministry team, was an incredible experience thanks to more than 60 volunteers who dressed as Christmas trees, shoveled snow, welcomed guests, distributed hot cocoa and candy, and much more. We are so grateful for everyone who donated their time, money or resources to help bring the Season of Rejoice to our community!

The Shepherd’s Grove Christmas Village is part of Season of Rejoice, our six-week celebration of Christmas that culminates with three services on Christmas Eve. Click here for service times and details. We hope to see you there!

Shepherd's Grove Christmas Village at Shepherd's GroveThe North Pole comes to Season of Rejoice during the Shepherd’s Grove Christmas Village, a two-night festival featuring an array of Christmas activities and treats for all ages. Hosted by Shepherd’s Grove Family Ministry, Shepherd’s Grove Christmas Village will offer a myriad of festivities for all ages. Here are the seven things we’re most excited for (and you should be, too):

  1. Santa will be there! Because it’s hard to imagine Christmas without him, the big man in red will be visiting Shepherd’s Grove to meet and take photos with little ones. I’ve also heard he will be bringing gifts for all who visit him!
  2. Experience “The Shepherd’s Story” in the Village Theater. Immerse in the Christmas Story in this short, fun-filled live theater performance.
  3. Cookies and hot chocolate. Just for Shepherd’s Grove Christmas Village, Mrs. Claus will open her kitchen and offer hot chocolate and cookies to decorate (and eat, of course)!
  4. Christmas crafts and reindeer games. If you’re like me and crafting is one of your favorite Christmas activities, you will love our Christmas Nativity craft! Also especially exciting, this year we’ll have reindeer games sure to make the whole family shout with glee.
  5. Sing along with our Christmas Carolers. As you tour the Village Square, which will be decorated with a huge display of inflatable decorations, keep an ear out for some of your favorite Christmas tunes.
  6. There will be SNOW. A rare sight in Orange County, Shepherd’s Grove will host a winter wonderland perfect for making and throwing snowballs or building snowmen!
  7. Admission is free! We are so excited to share the joy of the Christmas season with our community, so we invite you to bring as many friends and family members you can for an evening of unforgettable yuletide fun for free!

The Gift of Winter

Pastor Bobby Schuller continues his series entitled “Hope in Your Winter” on the forth Sunday of Advent with the message “The Gift of Winter” at Shepherd’s Grove on December 18, 2016.

During the holiday season, it is easy to get carried away with stress. Society is incredibly hurried, and Christians in particular harbor a lot of guilt that stems from always trying to set things right. Bobby reminds us that we do not have the all-encompassing power to change the world. God will gently call you to people and places according to His timing. You do not have to prove anything to anybody, because you are enough, and God is proud of you. Take the time you’re given off from work this holiday season and rest, be with the people you love, and just take this time to enjoy your life–you deserve it.

You’ll Find What You’re Looking For

Pastor Bobby Schuller continues his series entitled “Hope in Your Winter” on the second Sunday of Advent with the message “You’ll Find What You’re Looking For” at Shepherd’s Grove on December 4, 2016.

Advent is a season of waiting, expectation, and desire. Many of the desires God has given you are good. In this message, Bobby stresses that if you want something, and it doesn’t go against anything the Bible says, then God probably wants it for you too. He encourages us to remind ourselves, “don’t lose hope; don’t give up,” because “He who seeks finds, he who knocks the door will be opened.”

Anything is Possible in the Kingdom of God

Pastor Bobby Schuller begins his series entitled “Hope in Your Winter” on the first Sunday of Advent with the message “Anything is Possible in the Kingdom of God” at Shepherd’s Grove on November 27, 2016.

In this series, Bobby strays away from a dark standpoint on the Christmas season and focuses on the unlimited possibilities that are offered to us during this time. He reminds us that, while we may be faced with suffering, we must respond to seemingly impossible situations with faith. Winter is the season for starting over, and good things are always coming.
